JOB DESCRIPTION Transport Driver
Summary:
- Non-Smoker
- Operate semi and trailer safely and in compliance with DOT and company regulations.
- Navigate with control and professionalism large and small city traffic on a daily basis.
- Lift, carry, and bend in regard to loading and unloading propane gas from pipeline and/or truck to customer and/or company location.
- Comply with all HazMat and company regulations regarding handling of propane gas.
- Complete daily and monthly paperwork neatly and on a timely basis.
- Perform routine maintenance on semi and trailer on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule.
- Communicate with customers, staff, and management in an open, honest, and polite manner.
Details:
- Home daily (shift can start as early as midnight).
- Expect to work in excess of 32 hours a week, but within DOT regulations.
- Normally Monday thru Friday with occasional weekend(s) during peak season.
- Assignments are given on a daily basis: where to load, where to deliver, and when run is expected to be done.
- Normal route is Manitowoc to Lemont, IL
and back with unloads in Milwaukee, Calumet, Sheboygan, and Manitowoc
counties.
- Drivers are expected to complete all necessary paperwork in a timely and neat manner and in compliance with DOT and company regulations.
- Drivers are expected to perform pre- and post-trip inspections of semi and trailer; must be documented on forms provided.
- Drivers are expected to handle routine maintenance of their vehicle: oil, headlights. The driver is responsible to assure that all repairs have been made before operating the vehicle.
- Drivers must return truck back to "ready" condition at the end of the day.
- Drivers are required to complete an in-house
Hazmat and any safety training the company defines as necessary.
Compensation:
-
Paid by the mile.
- Paid a monthly mile performance bonus; eligibility starts 30 days after first solo run.
- Paid for loading - unloading.
- Paid down time.
- Paid hourly rate when doing out-of-truck work (such as washing, training, maintenance, etc.).
- Overtime exemption: Because transport drivers run interstate the Motor Carriers Act Part 782 provides an exemption to employers for any overtime incurred.
- Full-time drivers will accrue 1 week of vacation after 1 full year of service, to be taken when company demands allow.
- Full-time employees will be eligible for
6 paid holidays after 90 days.
- Full-time drivers will be eligible for medical insurance after 30 days and dental reimbursement after 90 days.
- Full-time drivers will be eligible to participate in the 401k after 1 year of employment.
